| partners | | this hike has been on my wish list since i've had the 100 classic hikes book
just never got around to it in 15 years or so
pam and i both like water hikes, so she suggested going on a monday to avoid any crowds
probably got going a little late at 10:00, but with so many chances to cool off, it was fine
the trail follows sycamore canyon through the wilderness area and features six creek crossings
i don't think you could keep your feet dry if you wanted to
we explored a few side trips on the way out
the first big swimming hole was occupied by three parties, two loose dogs, and one whining tied-up dog, so we kept going
found another place to do some swimming and have a snack
moved on to what seemed like an obvious turn-around point at the last crossing
went for a swim near there, then stopped for some jumping and photo-ops at the ledges
stopped at the main swimming hole on the way back, as there were a tolerable number of people there by late afternoon
a couple more jumps and we were good for the hike out
very pretty riparian area with enough shade to make it comfortable in june
pam found summers spring on the way back
really enjoyed having water so close the full length of the hike
easy travel for the most part
thought the part where you hike on the ledges was cool
great idea pam, and a perfect choice for the day
thanks for driving |
