| partners | | broke camp, then headed up the road to palisades trailhead, where the climber's trail to the outcroppings begins
three areas here: cave wall, incinerated ridge west wall, and tall wall
no beta for this area in the data-base
next visit i will bring my gps to get coordinates and a route, and maybe joe will help me do a climbing description
our mission today was to do a multi-pitch, and there are several on tall wall
started with ben dover, a two pitch 5.6
i led, john followed and cleaned
we managed the hanging belay fine, but need work on our rope management
rigged the first pitch of the 5.8 climb next door, AT steps out, for top rope
after a lunch break, moved to the other end and john led cave dweller's, another 5.6 multi-pitch
the upper section featured a vertical pull that took some cojones, as it wasn't well protected
worked the top-belay, creative anchoring and rope skills again
on the rap down, i was able to set the route next door for toprope, so we hit thoughts of strassman and cochise, another 5.8 face climb
really wanted to lead 7 year itch, but storms were surrounding us, so we made the call to hit the road
unfinished business will require a return visit
nice to get a couple of multi-pitch routes done
both of us felt our face climbing has improved
a fun couple of days, followed by dinner at el charro and some DQ on the way home
thanks for driving, john
we're not done either this week
p.s. happy birthday! |
