My morning started off in slight crisis mode when, as soon as I turned on my car, the low tire pressure warning light was on. Sure enough, flat tire--second one in a week! I quickly moved all my stuff to my husband's truck, and managed to arrive to meet Kelly & Whitney only ten minutes late, and as an added bonus, got to drive a brand new truck with less than a hundred miles on it. It now has about four hundred, but I'll let my husband discover that on his own.

We got to the trailhead at 8:00 and got started on Aspen trail. We followed Aspen all the way to the top, then made our way west past the towers and headed over to the summit behind the observatory. We may have accidentally found ourselves on the wrong side of the fence (oops, maybe I shouldn't lead), but quickly corrected that and found the register. After that, we got back on Meadow trail and took it west. This added a little distance and some backtracking at one point, but Kelly hadn't been on Meadow yet, and I thought she would like it.

When we reached Mt Lemmon trail, Kelly and I took it back east to the top of Lemmon Rock trail and quickly went down to the lookout, while Whitney stayed back at the junction for a break. We took a few pics then headed back to meet Whitney, and continued down Mt Lemmon trail to Wilderness of Rocks. The occasional clouds were welcome along here, as it was a little warm at times.

The first two miles on WoR were probably the two warmest miles of the day, but the great scenery made up for it. Once we got back into the trees, the temps felt a little better. We took some breaks along the water, then made our way up to the saddle. At the saddle, we headed back to the trailhead on Marshall Gulch, finishing up just before 5:00. Fun day, and the variety of scenery along the way is always enjoyable.
