| no partners | | My second visit to Clear Creek Reservoir. Unique kayaking and climbing destination. The views are truly special and on this day the water was like glass. The low sun and stillness in the air created the most mirror-like reflections I've ever photographed.
There are some challenging climbing routes about 3 miles upstream. I have a lot of respect for the abilities of the experienced climbers who really know what they are doing. After an evening and morning of working on a tough sport route we were able to make our way only about 2/3's up the wall before moving on.
We found another big wall where we used ascenders to climb a rope someone had left behind. I'm less trusting of other people's gear than Dean, so he volunteered to take the lead. With Dean safely up on a small ledge 75 feet above, I made my ascent. Once atop the ledge we scrambled up to the top of the canyon for a look around. After a few pics, we went back to the anchor point and set up the 75 foot rappel.
Once back on the water, a mild tailwind provided some assistance for the kayak out. |

This is my gym. I have to travel down a bumpy road to get there. There are no treadmillls, no machines, and no personal trainers. I walk..I run..I breathe the fresh air. I can go any time I want, as much as I want and there is no membership fee. |
