The parking lot was really full, and I saw a bunch of people close to the TH, but once I was about 2 miles in the hike was all mine. This one is pretty relentless once you get going, good consistent elevation gain, but nothing too steep. I made it to almost the halfway point of the trail to take a break and turn around. I found a nice dry wash with lots of Emory Oak and Arizona Cypress, and plenty of large boulders just ripe for sittin'. The trail is pretty smooth for the most part, so I could enjoy the views on the way down without having to stare at my feet the whole time to keep from tripping. I will have to hit this one again, hopefully next time with a longer destination in mind. |
