Awesome post work hike! I took the Florence Junction route home from Tucson so I could get in a nice dose of the Supes. Made it to the Mckellips trailhead a bit after 3 to start the hike. This is the first time I have done this hike without a press of people, I saw two small groups on the way up, and then a group of 6-7 guys while I was on the way down that were spending the night up on top the Flatiron. I was able to make it up to the saddle in 1:25 with breaks, not too shabby. From here I went over to explore Peak 5024, that is a fun scramble to pick your way among the monoliths. quick break up top, then over to the Flatiron for a bit longer break. The sun went down about halfway out the canyon, made for some slower going than usual but otherwise no worries. I was able to pick up some speed once the trail leveled out and then back to the van. Great day, great hike!!!
