| no partners | | I've been meaning to try this trail. Pretty hot out today, but there was intermittent cloud cover and a little breeze now and then to keep things bearable. Couple other cars at the small parking lot. We only saw a group of 3 and a mountain biker the whole time.
The trail itself is nice. Similar to the Holbert Trail in distance, difficulty and scenery. Before you are past the scout camp the trail is flat, but after that it's basically all uphill, with some steep sections. Really good workout hike. These rocky trails are pretty fun for me. Nice view from the bench at the Buena Vista trailhead, and the breeze at the top felt awesome. Coming back I could see how you could miss the trail back and end up at the scout camp, but a cairn marks the turnoff spot.
The heat really tired us out on this one. Got back to the car and cranked the AC. Overall I think the Holbert Trail might be slightly more interesting, but the solitude on this one is a definite plus. |
