Still not quite feeling 100% after my illness, so I'm not sure what I was thinking attempting this trail today, but the usual Mormon Trail just didn't sound satisfying. Wanted something a little more difficult and with more solitude, and this was it. I waited until almost sundown to start, so thankfully the heat wasn't bad at all. Pretty windy too which kept it nice.

This trail definitely kicked my butt. After the first minute of the trail it starts to elevate and doesn't stop. Some sections are really steep. I was getting so tired by the last quarter mile that I have to admit I seriously considered turning back several times. Didn't want to get that close though and turn back, so I paced myself and kept going. Glad I didn't turn back, because it was a great feeling making it to Star Peak. Didn't have much time to enjoy it though as it was already getting dark, so I returned the way I came.

Heading back down the footing was pretty treacherous, especially in the dark. Slipped a couple times but no falls. :) It was completely dark by the time I was back to my car. Always like hearing the coyotes start to howl when the sun goes down. Didn't see a soul on the trail tonight... it was great having it to myself.
