| no partners | | it's been a year and a half since i've been up on 5024
wanted a peak and some aeg and to get back home in time to watch the world cup
got going a little later than i'd like, around 8:00, after a slight delay at work
part of the ascent was still in the shade
full disclosure: this hike kicked my pumpkin today
i certainly could have prehydrated better
also got off route a couple times, nothing major, but that didn't help
i've done this at least a half dozen times, so i don't know what the problem was today
went out to flatiron first and wandered around a bit while hydrating
wanted to get up 5024 without looking at my gps, and did fine
there are a couple of different paths to get up there
took in the views, which were pretty clear
headed down and felt fine the rest of the hike
saw about a dozen other hikers
finished around 11:30, and there were eight guys above me
four of them were probably still going up - that would have been a little toasty
fun hike, in spite of not having my a game on the climb
a good reason to go back soon |
