| no partners | | Seems that just as I got to the canyon a solid hour after I wanted, I also came about a month after I should have. Oh well. Cold, and windy, with dropping temps forecast for the week. I was once again reminded of how I hate camping, when I had a miserable nights sleep the night before, and woke to find the funky smell was a dead Elk not more than 10 feet from my tent. Some hunters covered it with branches, which only hit the corpse, but did not eliminate the stench. With my lamp and early winter darkness, I was never able to see it until daylight.
The high winds were no fun on the exposed parts of the trail, and I am canceling my canyon summits. Dave1r recognized me as he was hiking out from some probably exciting cross river trip. He had his decorative plumage, err.. ores, in his pack. The Tanner is interesting, but I stopped above the descent below the Redwall. As it was, it was very windy out at my view point, and I was basically done. Rim views are where the action is at, when the season changes. |
