Up and back from the VC. Usual times: :13 to Trupiano bench, :10 on to the low saddle, :04 to the pavement and :17 to the tower gate. Total 44 minutes. Doing better. Did not stop until tower gate, rested there then went on up to the summit for a late lunch. Very smoggy air, as brown as brown can be looking W and S. The slopes had a rusty-red look, all covered with zillions of low-lying vine weed of some kind. It had a single root system and spread out. Probably was green and is turning color in the cool weather. Descent count: 36, coming up near sunset. Encountered four more on the short connector trail, including two bikers. Thought there might be more trying to shed weight from the turkey-binge weekend.
