| no partners | | I wanted to do something before the incoming storm (12-15"... really?) and before the trails become a mess for a while. Off at about 3:20PM to 46 degrees and howling winds. I wore spikes for the first 2/3 of a mile, but probably not necessary... just sloshyish in the chimney at the top. A little muddy and slick in the usual areas above and below Cedar Ridge, but most of the trail was free and clear. It was nice in the sun with no wind, coldish in shade with the blustery winds. Made it down to Skeleton Point, passing some groups making their way up along the way, but not too many. Stayed at the Colorado River lookout for about half an hour, where it was pretty windy, but not too bad. This was my first 2,000' hike in over two months and my legs were definitely feeling it. 28 minutes to CR and tried to break the hour with some jogging near the end, but my legs just couldn't muster it. 1:00:18 up. I'll do better in the coming months. Didn't come across anyone on the ascent. |
