Well, I had a 7300' day of elevation gain... for driving, that is  Up and over Mingus from the west, through Jerome and on to Sedona. Always a pleasure to drive through this section of the 89A. When I arrived in Sedona, there were lines of cars along Dry Creek Rd. and it was at that point that I remembered it was President's Day weekend. Full parking lot and lines of cars alongside the roadway at the Bear/Doe trailhead, though it turned out that the trail was not very crowded at all with typical traffic counts as compared to my previous trips. I am not sure where everyone was, but I could only assume that they were on the easier and shorter Doe. Off to 73 degrees at 3PM. Sunny for the entire ascent, with a little bit of wind on the summit. Pretty much ideal hiking conditions. I pushed the whole way and turned a personal best 1:00:29 to the end of trail sign. I was at the summit for about 20 minutes and then took it easy on the way down, snapping some photos. There was cloud cover present for some of the descent, then the sun really broke through for the last 0.5 miles, which was beautiful. I debated on whether to tack on Doe afterwards, but the sun was getting close to setting, so I opted to head back over the hill to Prescott Valley.
