| no partners | | I saw the peak (Peak Contour 3772, I believe, from looking at a topo map just now) to the right from the parking lot and decided that was my target. After 0.3 miles of walking in the wash to the mouth of the canyon, I headed up and off trail to the right. There was a fairly discernible pathway to the ridge like feature, which I followed up and down for a bit. I was eyeing the large, white cliff like boulders in the drainage ahead (which can be seen from the parking lot), maybe a few hundred vertical feet beneath the peak. I made it there, which had great views back down drainage towards the parking area and Laughlin. Also of Lake Mohave to the east. I decided I should probably turn around at this point. It appeared like you could go up and around to the left, then back down a bit, then up to the base of the peak cliff faces, but kind of hard to tell until you encounter it. I would like to explore further next time. Made it back to the car for a 1.5 hour hike total, with one relatively minor directional mishap. Maybe it is time to invest in some sort of gps device? |
