| no partners | | SK>NK>SK I am pretty sure after I did R2R2R three years ago, I promised myself that I would never do that again. Well I am making myself that same promise but who knows. I couple of guys from work were going so I said I was in. They were planning for 20 hours and I knew that would make it even more miserable and I wanted to see if I could better my time from 3 years ago so after a quarter of a mile with them I started a slow run on the down hill parts. I saw them again leaving Supai Tunnel as they were come up NK. It was great to be back in the Canyon after a 2 year mandatory hiatus. The weather was perfect and I enjoy being there but that is just a lot of abuse on a body and I normally love the abuse. I opted to head up SK because I had never been up it and I knew it would be harder but over sooner. Lonely hike up SK in the dark as I only saw a group of 3 head down the whole time. It is such a weird feeling to yearn for a hotel bed so bad after 13 hours of all out exertion only to know that you have 4 more hours of even harder hiking before you get there. I love the Canyon no matter what though. Always good to see just how far you can push yourself both physically and mentally. I am excited for the soreness to be gone in another day or so. |
