| no partners | | Went out for a morning hike to take advantage of the overcast sky's and light breezes. Burns Ranch is little more than lots of ATV trails off Peralta Road before the turn-off to the Quarter Circle U Ranch. There's lots of old prospects lurking back in the hills, some are little more than a shallow hole while others are quite deep and were worked for quite some time.
I just made a circular loop around hill 2289 (elevation) following the ATV trails. Humidity was high at the start of the hike and it didn't take long before I was sweating pretty good. I found some tailing piles and checked them out looking for trash dumps and foundations that might be interesting.
The sky was colored from fires burning off in the distance and produced some colorful sunrise shots. Not much wildlife beyond the normal Rabbits and Turkey Vultures but I did see a couple of Longhorns grazing alongside the road. I saw about four Tarantula Hawks flying around, don't know if it's their hunting season but I didn't come across any Tarantulas either. Hoping for rain. |
