| no partners | | Over the last several weeks, I've been nursing a very sore heel so I have been taking it easy on my foot, hoping it was just a bruise and would get better. Well, it would improve but following the next outing I was experiencing pain all over again I made an appointment last Wednesday and visited a Podiatrist, and the Doc told me it was Plantar Fasciitis.
I got a shot of Cortisone in my heel and a pair of orthotics to place in my shoe to increase the arch support. Almost immediately I was feeling relief and began an exercise therapy to stretch the calf muscles. I went out this morning for an easy hike in the Superstition foothills to see if I was getting any better.
It was a good morning to get out with an early chill to the air, a light breeze, lots of sun and very few hikers on the trails. The Brittlebush are all wilted now after some earlier brilliant displays along with patches of Globe Mallow and Chuparosa still lingering in the deep washes. The Saguaro appear to be getting ready to put on a flowery display within the next few weeks so there's still something to look forward to.
I gained a bit of altitude heading towards the Praying Hands formation and taking some fun photos of the sun breaking over the edges of the high cliffs. I've noticed BASE jumpers bailing from these cliffs recently and hoped they might jump today now that I had a good vantage point, but no such luck. When I got back to the Mining Camp, the foot was still feeling pretty good so I think I might be on the right track but I'm still going to take it easy for the next few weeks.

Wildflowers Observation Moderate Dwindling observations of Chuparosa and Globe Mallow, the Brittlebush are all but done for this year but the cactus flower bloom is still going on. Waiting and hoping for a good Saguaro bloom. |
