Well we have a Nephew and his Girlfriend in town (from Duluth, MN) enjoying the summer-like weather and they wanted to go hiking in the Superstitions. Romeo does a lot of running so I thought it best to take it easy on him so I selected the Garden Valley/Hackberry Spring Loop.
We got an early start and it was kinda cool at first but we had the trails all to ourselves for most of the hike. As the sun rose across Garden Valley, it began to warm thing up and we began running into more hikers. Still it was a great day with perfect weather and a light breeze blowing. There's a couple of places along First Water Creek where there's a very light flow of water but the rest to the creek's bone dry.
The First Water parking lot was less than half full so maybe some of the winter visitors have left for the summer. Some of the cacti are blooming and lots of Brittlebush.
Wildflowers ObservationModerate A good bloom of Brittlebush and Creosote is still on, with buds on the Staghorn and Hedgehog slowly forming..... Need Rain.
