| no partners | | Got out on a cool morning with heavy overcast to enjoy the quiet trail to the saddle. The right heel is still sore from the PF but it seems to be improving with exercise and I'm hoping that I don't have to rely on Cortisone injections to keep hiking. These recent cloudy days are just made for getting out on the trails and I don't want to waste any of them.
I left the TH around 0630 to a noticeable breeze and after a bit, I noticed rain specs on the rocks. It didn't amount to much and was too soon past but it felt good anyway. The sun was behind the dark clouds but occasionally it could burn a hole through and cast bright patches of sunlight on the sides of the canyon Along the way I came across a small(ish) Tarantula in the middle of the trail, so in perfect Gummo style, I carried it to the edges where it would be safe.
I'm after photos of Agave-in-bloom so I have been checking them out regularly but, although there's many of them along the Peralta, they're still too early to flower out. I only met a couple of hikers on my way up the trail, but after making my turnaround at the saddle, they were everywhere guess I'll stick more to the middle of the week.

Wildflowers Observation Isolated Most of the more common wildflowers are past prime but there's still some of the smaller flowers. |
