| no partners | | Hiked from Hatchery TH to 260 TH. I knew it was going to be a warm one with temps reaching the low 90's but the humidity seemed fairly high too. Everything was still damp from thunderstorms the previous evening. Right before the power lines there was a fresh set of bear tracks in the mud leading right into a raspberry patch. I stopped briefly at Horton Spring which was surprisingly empty despite an overflowing parking lot. I passed a few hikers going opposite direction between Horton and the Derrick junction. The shade through this section was greatly appreciated, as was every other morsel of shade along the Highline today. By the time I reached Christopher Creek I quickly rinsed off and had a snack. Thunder started to rumbled just as I departed the creek. The storms stayed just north of me while I enjoyed the cloud cover and thunder. I got sprinkled on lightly but nothing more, although rain would've felt good today. |
