| no partners | | finally got out to hike the famous Bruce Loop on the rim. The reviews were right, this is a spectacular hike! i had primo weather for this one, which certainly helped too.
See Canyon is very nice. there is some deadfall from the winter that is largely avoidable, though annoying in a couple key spots. no big deal though. this canyon has charm any time of year. still little spots of snow up top
i enjoyed the road walk as there was nobody to be seen, except the (presumed) turkey that gobbled at me and a couple elk i spotted. Promontory Butte is simply outstanding and so is the famed lunch spot just west of 278.
going down promontory 278 had me chuckling that this seemed like someone's idea of a good place for a trail. i can't believe i didn't fall on my pumpkin.
took joe's advice and whined my way along the highline to Horton (incredible place!) where i finally saw my first hiker in 3 days...JJ 
trip back on horton was just outstanding in the late afternoon sun and shade. |
