The forecast was too warm to go long so a climb up to an alcove I've seen previously fit the bill. After rock hopping down Randolph Canyon I climbed the bank a bit too soon but found some antlers on the detour. I went back down to the creek bed to cross the fence and then up the side of the hill. The alcove was nothing special but now I've been there. I encountered a diamondback while hiking down. The initial surprise was memorable. The hike back up the creek and down the trail was pleasant. No one else at the trailhead on my return. |
