It was 63 degrees when leaving the house and 41 degrees at the lower trail 203 parking area. The initial few miles were in the shade. My ears and nose were cold and I wore gloves. It was awesome. Once over the saddle, I was in the sun so the extra shirt and gloves came off and it was a pleasant stroll to the ranch. The area is dry right now and Tony spring was at a trickle. I climbed up the slope west of the ranch to have a look around. There are no promising limestone cliffs to the west, east or south but there is a canyon to the north that needs more attention. I checked out some limestone to the northwest but it was too short to produce anything big. There were two groups in the area but they hiked in from the upper trailhead. It was a sweltering 73 degrees at the parking area when I left.
