I took a trip out to Battleship to look at a cave on the east side. The cave was nothing special but I continued off trail along the cliff base. There was a plateau farther down so I hiked to it. I could see where several boulders have broken off Battleship over time and rolled down toward La Barge Creek. Next I returned back to the cliff band and saw where you could climb up and possibly get up on Battleship. I ended up by the graffiti rocks that I have looked down to on previous hikes. The attempt to go up farther was scrapped but the ledge I followed around the south end brought me up on Battleship. Interesting day exploring and solitude during the off trail sections. I saw Kyle back at the trailhead.
