| no partners | | Our 3rd annual butterfly hike....coordinating this event had some challenges but overall went smooth. Our start was slightly delayed but the weather turned out to be perfect. We went into the canyon first and started counting on the way back. Ended up seeing lots of butterflies nectaring away on turpentine bushes and goldeneye. Both bushes were not blooming on our practice hike just about 10 days ago. Saw lots of sleepy oranges and blues puddling at the water tank....also didn't happen on our practice hike.Mormons really enjoyed wright's buckwheat.
Professor added up counts. We doubled from last year no doubt to our rains, earlier count date....etc.our species number is slightly less but we had lot of unknowns. He thought if we had IDs on all of them, then our species number would have been higher than last year. I am glad the event had ended
Except for a few hiccups, it went relatively well. Entering the data to NABA database sounds challenging.....I will be doing it in the future.
Finished the NABA submission. It wasn't painful. |
