I had 4 locations to look for rock piles at today. I ended up finding 12 rock piles. The plan was to hike from one location to another but the challenging terrain didn't make that a good choice. It turned out to be an interesting day as I saw no other hikers all day and no other cars at the trailhead. Three white-tailed deer and a roadrunner were the only fauna I saw. The road in to the trailhead has more sand on it since the rains but to test it I stayed in 2wd at about 15mph on the way out and had no trouble. It was warm there and I ran out of water on the way out. The creek was flowing nicely so I cooled off before leaving. This was definitely long pants/sleeves hiking although a few areas were forgiving. I think I'm done with rock piles for a while.
