I took the day off and decided to try Rogers Trough TH before the coming rain. I wanted to hike up near Redwood Spring for a search. I went off trail a little early on the climb up and had to cross 3 deep washes and play some Manzanita Twister. Two whitetail deer jumped up and pranced off when I was dropping down into the 3rd wash. The terrain is rough and you need to route find but that's what exploring is all about. I made a loop on the west side of White Mountain and dropped back down to the trail. I talked with 3 hikers going to the ruins on the hike out. FR172 is in good condition but there were several people out with quads so it took some extra time to get back out to US60.
