The hike started at 5:25am at the First Water trailhead. There were three other vehicles in the parking area. The temperature was nice but the humidity was high. I kept a good pace on the way in passing 6 hikers along the way. I detoured into Second Water Canyon to look for a marker. The marker location is shown in Jack San Felice's book "The Lost El Dorado Of Jacob Waltz. The location was correct and from viewing old tracks I walked right past it before and never saw it. On the hike out I saw a tortoise on the trail. It never really got hot but I was drenched from the humidity.
