| no partners | | Had to drop my son off at the Phoenix Airport and figured since I was already up this far north I would head to Payson for 5 days and do some hiking (Even though it was the holiday weekend). Started this hike at 1:00 in the afternoon and it was a bit warm (Temperature in the mid 90's and hotter in the sun). The trail is well maintained and fairly easy walking. a lot of sun exposure on the Derrick trail, The Highline and Horton Creek Trail have more tree cover. Horton Spring was flowing pretty good and I was amazed at the water just coming out of the ground. The trail down Horton Creek was a pleasant leisurely walk back to the Derrick Trail Head. This was my James Bond "Never Say Never" trip. I have always said I would never own a Jeep (Former FJ-40 owner), I would never own a black car in Arizona and never travel to the mountains on a holiday weekend. Here I am doing all three, just goes to show that if you live long enough you'll do a lot of things you thought you'd never do. (so I don't get bombarded by jeep owners, I actually am quite pleased with my Jeep) |
