| partners | | Pretty big group today on a key-exchange hike between Prison Camp to Sabino Canyon Visitor Center (by way of Bear Canyon Trail #29). Seven went up (4000+ feet aeg) and four went down for the 1644 feet aeg shown above. The entire trail is easy to follow and in great shape.
The stats include a detour to climb Thimble Peak. The first time we did this spur out to the Thimble, there was a very faint trail. Now, it's very well beaten in. Outstanding day to hike; slightly overcast and moderate temps. Surprisingly, there was some flowing water and several substantial pools in Bear Canyon. Only a few pools at Seven Falls. The only bad part about this hike is the 1.5 mile + walk along the road to get out to Bear. Didn't see many people until we reached the area below Seven Falls.
Great day out in a fantastic canyon.
