| no partners | | 26 days later I finally get my sorry out there and hiked. I started from the road below the parking area to add a little extra to the hike which is why I ended up choosing this lower loop. I had never really hiked most of this lower loop before in all the years I've been hiking here. It was interesting and being close to some of the homes and backyards was entertaining. One does end up on the actual 308 a couple of times and then at the last from the east side.
Glad to see some scorpionweed and I did the sniff test once again and unlike our good buddy Joe's smell test, it still smells fine to me, not repulsive. I was going to do a video to show the evidence but perhaps to each his own. I think we need a poll: do you find the smell of scorpionweed repulsive? Either that or I'm not squishing it right.
I discovered the Lookout #25 Connector Trails; didn't know they existed. And even though one tries to stay low, you do go back up a couple different times. A few people out on the trail. The trail seems to be in good condition on this less traveled route. Will probably try it clockwise to check out another connector trail that I saw.
Last, here is the video I shot of my snow chase on New Year's Day before going over to work on my brother's house. I did some panning from Cave Creek Dam area of the snow to the west and north and east. Next I headed over to NE of Carefree and stopped where I did in 2010 on Cave Creek Road alongside Outlaw Golf Course. This year there was a lot more snow on the ground where as in 2010, there was a lot more snow in the mountains. But in 2010, I was shooting in the afternoon after work so maybe the snow near the golf course had melted. [ youtube video ] (New Year's Day snow 2019)
In case you missed 2010: [ youtube video ] starts out with the hail storm at my house in the wee hours of the morning. And here is the photoset on HAZ: [ photoset ] |

Oh, and once in awhile, don't forget to look back at the trail you've traveled. |
