Got started just before 7:30, there were only 5 other cars parked at the trailhead or on the street. Didn’t see anyone on my way up. Hot, no breeze until the top of Lost Mine. Once on National, it wasn’t too bad. Saw two other hikers near Goat Hill, and gave them my spare bottle of water. They came up from Telegraph, but weren’t carrying enough. The hike down Lost Mine is always a little tedious, but okay if you take your time. I wet the cooling towel 3 times over the course of the hike, it was fantastic, and I’m glad I brought it. Energy-wise, I felt kind of flat for the last mile or so, but I was moving 3mph, so I guess it was just my perception and wanting to be out of the heat. No other cars left by the time I finished around 10:00. |
