After a cold, windy, and rainy rest day on Monday, and a slower rest day on Sunday hiking some Rim Trail, a window of excellent weather appeared. I decided to skip the buttes off of this as those can be done during hot summer weather, but a river trip is best done on a day such as this. So, I hiked down and out, same day, eating my lunch on a rock by some beach near Tanner Rapids. Not hot down there, perfect. Not too cold on the rim starting or finishing. Solitude, as well, for this. Heard and saw 100 times more birds than I saw people ( on the trail). Didn't think the trail was bad at all, it is used heavily enough that all sections were in really well maintained shape. I kept thinking that Organ Needle in New Mexico is steep and unmaintained, but not this!
