| no partners | | Early morning trek to get some exercise. Our route was similar to the HAZ Guide with the exception being that we hugged the mountain on the eastern side going CCW using the Granite Mountain Loop Trail. The guide has you using the Bootlegger Trail on the eastern side. Our route was slightly longer but more scenic I believe. Route shown in photoset.
We just hiked in this area 2 weeks ago to see the Balanced Rock but I guess we both wanted to see more kitchen countertops in their natural habitat. [ photo ] There are some truly giant granite boulders in this area. Also we have wanted to photograph the Cristate Saguaro just north of this loop so we went to see that also. [ photo ] Thanks to Larry @RowdyandMe for the location.
No flowers to mention, but the recent rains have all the Ocotillo leafed out in a bright green spectacle. [ photo ] Encountered one hiker, two MB's, and two equestrians. The trail tread is in absolutely fantastic condition. |
