A friend gave me a magazine photo of Balanced Rock in the Granite Mountain area of McDowell Mountain Range. Gale, Tim and Don joined me to hike Bootlegger trail to Granite Loop trail, then taking Coyote Canyon trail to the Crested Saguaro. We continued on to the Desperado trail and walked it about a quarter mile to the Michelin Man saguaro. We then returned to the Granite Mountain loop traveling west and south to the Balanced Rock trail. After seeing the Balanced Rock, we continued back to the Granite Mountain Trail Head parking lot. A great hike on wonderfully groomed trails where fantastic sculptured rocks surrounded us.
