The road out to the Cuff Button Trailhead seems to be about in the same condition (high clearance, 4wd). It’s 6.1 miles to the Cuff Button Trailhead from the iron bridge. I think that actually makes it closer than Miles Trailhead, which I find surprising.
The road portion of Cuff Button is getting a little over grown with acacia, especially, as you near the corral. The corral missed being burned up by about 200 feet. The Woodbury Fire burnt the ridgeline across the wash from the canal. Not to far after the corral you come to the perimeter of the Woodbury Fire. The entire area is scorched. Big views now, but no living trees. It goes from a riparian canyon to completely devoid of green vegetation. The trail however, is clear of brush and in pretty good shape though. We walked a little into the burn area and then turned around, as it was already past four at that point.
I think Cuff Button may have been the first description I ever wrote for HAZ. It was real nice being in the area again. I posted the route for the drive in from the iron bridge. Its the six mile route that says driving directions in the notes. |

Autumn Foliage Observation Moderate Some nice pockets here and there. Some trees past prime, some trees just starting. |
