| no partners | | I had to get me some Cuff Button. FR 287A to Miles Ranch is in decent shape. The road is rough but easily passable for most vehicles. West Pinto trail is there until it isn't. We stayed on for a while but it disappears and you do the best you can. We didn't find the Cuff Button trail junction so we started out up Campaign trail and worked our way over to what's left of Cuff Button. Lots of catclaw and twists and turns to get you off track. We followed the trail for the most part but the conditions slowed us down. Peak 4576 was on the agenda and after that the decision to take a ridge down was made. The short cuts always work out. The ridge wasn't too bad but the drop to the trail was a bit steep. The last leg was through Wildcat Canyon. The start on the north end was cleared and easy to follow. When the trail was overgrown, the canyon floor was the easy choice. After the turn over the saddle the trail was gone and a beeline for the drop down point was made. From the drop down the trail was visible and the final mile to the ranch was easy going. Feeling complacent, lethargic and lost that zest for life? You need to get some Cuff Button.
