got an invite from chums to hike this loop
kyle and karl came along, too
all new trails for me, so it sounded great
especially the part about south fork having some maintenance done recently
got going mid morning
deer creek to gold ridge, then a sustained climb of 3k in 6 miles
topped out on 201 near camp grasshopper, where we took a break
down peeley road, then a drop into south fork
very scenic with flowing water the entire way
trail was flagged and cairned and easy enough to follow
a few creek crossings, a few downed trees, and some steep bits getting away from and back down to the creek
kept things interesting :)
but nice to have the last couple miles be easy ones
temps were good for this, although it was breezy up high
nicely sheltered in the creek
good to hike with chums, kyle and karl again, and meet lily - what a sweetheart
