| no partners | | I headed west on the continuation of Camelbak Road to the saddle. It wasn't my intention to go off trail, but Bull Mountain looming above was tempting me. I started up and quickly found that this route is much more manageable than going up the east face. The footing is more stable, less vegetation and not nearly as steep. It is also very nice. There are some cave like formations in the rocks once you to get to the ridge. I think I like the views from this end of the mountain more than the east side. This feels more like a hike, while the approach up the east face kind of beats you up a little bit. The ground was nice and soft from the rain this past Saturday, which made the off trail descent quick and fun. Continuing further along the south ridge of the mountain would enable you to complete a loop, so I will have to check that out another trip. |
