| no partners | | | It was time to go check on Mama Owl so it was off to the Desert Vista Trailhead this afternoon. The parking are was fairly full when I arrived and I soon set out. Brittlebush, lupines and some scorpionweed were present along the trail. Mama owl was in her nest. No sign of any kiddos yet, hopefully in the next week or so. Reached the end of the trail with more lupines present. Headed to the right on the Dixie Mountain. Poppies were present but not plentiful. I had not gone far when two hikers informed me of a rattler on the trail up ahead. so I decided to use some abundance of caution and head back the way I came. A bike rider came from the same direction and said it was still on the trail. I headed back down, snapped a few more pics of the GHO and finished off my trek. Still all in all it was a nice afternoon and I got in some uphill work. |
