| no partners | | | Time for a slightly longer hike than I had been doing so it was out to the Apache Wash Trailhead where I was going to make a shorter loop of the Apache Loop trail by crossing at the first connector from the trailhead. Also this was a rare mid afternoon hike. Pulled into a fairly full parking area and got underway about 1:40. It was a beautiful day with comfortable temps. I shared the trail with a fair amount of hikers and bike riders and being mid afternoon, no birds to speak of. I had seen a lone poppy at the beginning of the hike and thought that was going to be it. I was hiking counter clockwise so coming back down the Apache Wash Trail I encountered a nice smattering of poppies on a westward facing slope on both sides of the trail. I spent several minutes snapping photos. I was back at the trailhead a little after 4 having enjoyed a great afternoon out. |
