The start of both is signed about 100’ west of the parking area. Warrior seems to be officially renamed Hau’Pal, as indicated by all of the signage along the trail. Steep climb up, but the new switchbacks are nice. The trail kind of abruptly stops near the top, and there is a laminated paper on a stake pointing T-Bone loop to the left (east), but we turned right and continued over Star Peak and on to Alta.
Headed west on Alta and made our way up to Maricopa Peak. Nice snack break atop the peak, then we headed back down and continued west on Alta. At San Juan Lookout, we debated about heading over to do the full Ma Ha Tuak Perimeter trail, but decided instead to skip the western part of and simply headed east from the parking area.
Easy walk east on the Perimeter trail. Some ups and downs, but generally a flat stroll. My daughter liked looking at all the unique houses we passed. Finished up just after 5:30 to a still full parking lot. Nice day, but could have used more of a breeze and a few more clouds for shade. |
