The kids were willing to do an early start to avoid the heat, so we hit the trail around 0700. Easy hike on 1.50 miles of Tom’s Thumb trail, then a very steep and gravelly 0.50 miles on the route up to East End. Footing was a lot worse than I remembered, and it looks like there’s been a lot of erosion. It wasn’t a big deal for the kids, nobody slipped, but they did scoot down in a few places. Once we were back on the main trail, it was a quick hike back down to the parking lot. It was not nearly as busy as I thought it would be today. Reasonably cool temps, but it was warming up on the last half mile.
