Had not been to Pima Canyon in a while so decided to go as far as time allowed and then turn back, trailhead was busy but not crazy and managed to park in the lot instead of along the road. Decided to drop down into Pima Wash and then use the West Loop to get to Beverly Canyon Trail and then up on the Ridgeline, left the crowd behind once on the Ridgeline. Dropped down to Mormon Loop on the Javelina Canyon Trail and cruised along taking in hazy views to the north. Reached the Buena Vista trailhead and decided time was up but didn’t account for the less time needed to return on the downward slope. Almost felt like I was hiking on the rim minus the trees as the temperature never warmed up in the morning and a gentle breeze helped. Took a break at the Buena Vista viewpoint for about 15 minutes only saw one plane land at Sky Harbor. No wildlife seen except lizards and ground squirrels, lots of bees buzzing. After ending up at the parking lot early decided to do a brief out and back on Desert Classic trail since I’ve never been on it, after looking at the map I saw that I could have looped back on it save it for next time. |
