| no partners | | Decided to take in the views here after Pam’s enthusiastic triplog. Plus get a preview of my first hike in 2021. Found I could add some extra mileage by leaving my binoculars case at the end of the trail, at least they didn’t blow off into the lake, not really used to taking them. Parked in the “parking lot” off FR 1821, after walking around to the passenger side to off load gear almost stepped on a diamondback, no worries it was dead , still made me jump back. Easy going hike except for managing the loose rocks on the road and on the steep section. Signed the summit log by the benchmark and proceeded on East to the rocky edge and settled in for some viewing. The vultures were gliding about but no Eagles and no Bighorns . Apparently mid morning is not the ideal viewing time, but nice views all around seeing the familiar landmarks, would rate this hike as high on the reward effort ratio. Another plus was no other hikers around! On the drive out noted First Water road was packed all the way to 88, last week Needle Vista was barricaded but not today. |
