| partners | | My overall favorite AZ area campsite to be during the Summer months of June-July-August. It had been a long overdue full year since my last planned Vehicle camping / hiking / R&R trip here.
Like for many of us, this past four months period, March'20 through June'20, has been a difficult period to go through with the AZ Covid-19 Pandemic restrictions/risks to deal with. During this period I also had a few planned and unplanned medical procedures, issues to recover from, so this planned 8day / 7night (6/10 to 6/17) trip back to a favorite place to unwind was high priority.
This June'20 week visit I decided to stay until the ice melted and/or the water ran out I was fortunate that Oregon_Hiker (Larry) surprised me with a three night visit and some extra ice and water to share upon his departure which would guarantee me at least my planned 8 days. We also hiked one day together to check out a number of the closer Cabin Loop area perennial springs. Another day I did one other recommended, nice, short, loop hike [ Merritt Draw Loop (Middle) - Mogollon Rim ] from camp and will soon post triplogs and picsets for all. Gps Routes have already been posted for these hike days 6/12 and 6/14.
I much enjoyed this long overdue week visit escape to 7435ft with enjoyable early morning temps from 40F to 54F and daytime temps never over 80F I did do just a little wilderness Camp GH cooking as well (see picset), which for me is always great therapy with my only disappointment being that my 8 days away here went way too fast.
