Very humid at the start and with headlights on as the full moon had just set minutes earlier. Just over half a mile in I heard that awful sound of a human body hitting the deck hard. Mrs. SloFolks tripped over a rock and did a face plant onto the rocky ground.
She washed the gravel out of her mouth and said she was OK to continue but I could already see her face was swelling up and her left eye starting to blacken. Then she noticed blood on her knee so we bailed on the hike and headed for the barn. I took a few photos at the scene but the swelling is worse now that we are at home having spread down into her jaw.
Donations are appreciated and will go to our favorite charity...the "Cave Creek Shelter For Battered Shrimp" which coincidentally shares our same address. |
