| no partners | | This is the second time we have visited Greer in the last 2 months. We found a reasonable priced cabin that allows dogs. The routine has fallen into hike in the morning (not to early) followed by near by fishing. @outdoor_ lover had posted this hike recently so we checked it out. For the last 5 years or so I’ve limited my hikes to 8000 feet or less. Last time we where in the Greer area I felt fine. This hike was in the 8900 range and while i was slow with baby steps when going up hill I did OK.
Kai has been doing only a mile a day for the last 2 months because of the heat so we cut the hike short. When we could see and hear the river we turned around. At this point it was clear it was all down hill to the river. While it was probably only 69-72* Kai was beginning to run ahead and stopping in the limited shade.
NO other hikers on the trail! Stopped at Big Lake after the hike and Judy landed a 14 inch rainbow!! Her record trout catch. |
