Judy and I are trying to find less used trails to reduce the number of people we pass on the hike. We are moving way off the trail before we pass others so we control the distance between them. Smiling now at the two ladies that came right up to my back shoulders and asked me what I was looking at when I was off trail with my back to them.

Happy that except for .3 of a mile on Slate Trail we had not previously hiked any of this route. Passed 8 others which surprised me, but lots of room to move over off trail. We started at 9 AM and I’m sure we would have seen fewer had we started at 8.

Went out 2.5 miles and turned around.
