| no partners | | Gorgeous day under a warming sun. Slept in, gave myself a haircut (ears and neck), made breakfast for my wife and I, packed up, queued up The Silver Bullet Band and headed North.
Campers galore on the Bush Hwy and 87 headed north. I saw triple that number on my way back. The road into Barnhardt is like it always is: fast at times, bumpy at times, better if you have something more than a light pickup.
The trailhead was not packed and I saw just two small groups before I reached the falls. Aside from the ankle buster rocks in the first quarter mile, the trail is outstanding up to the falls, which is where I turned around. Faint sound of water at the start and as you approach each waterfall. Some small, ankle to knee deep pools at Barnhardt Falls. A wee bit warm at the start, probably 85 degrees when I finished at two. I brought two quarts of water on the hike and drank most of it. Drank a canteen of chilled Gatorade on the way home.
Gorgeous out and I had it mostly to myself. |
